About Abbie

Abbie Hacker is a seasoned development professional with 15 years of experience. She has extensive practice establishing and strengthening strategic partnerships within the philanthropic sector. Abbie helps nonprofits, from grassroots organizations to large institutions, navigate the complexities of fundraising to achieve their organizational goals and transform the communities they serve.

 

As a fundraising consultant for the past nine years, Abbie has partnered with organizations of all sizes and across all sectors in the mid-Atlantic region and beyond. She specializes in conducting campaign planning studies, serving as campaign counsel, and building overall fundraising capacity. Prior to becoming a consultant, Abbie honed her skills in both traditional nonprofit and higher education development settings in various roles, including annual giving, corporate and foundation relations, grants and sponsored programs, and major gifts.

 

Abbie earned her MBA in Public Administration from Old Dominion University, further bolstering her ability to support nonprofit organizations in achieving their missions. She also holds a BS in Merchandising Management and Business Leadership from Virginia Tech, which gives her a unique perspective on the intersection of business and philanthropy.

 

A dedicated community advocate, Abbie actively contributes her time and expertise as a member of Nansemond-Suffolk Academy’s Development Advisory Committee and Saints Shop volunteer. Abbie is committed to enhancing local philanthropy and education, having served on the Association of Fundraising Professionals Hampton Roads Chapter Board of Directors as mentoring chair, Fundraising Leadership Symposium chair, and National Philanthropy Day Committee.

 

Abbie’s passion for development, combined with her deep-rooted expertise and community involvement, drives her to empower organizations to achieve sustainable growth and meaningful community impact.
