Abbie Hacker is an accomplished fundraising strategist with 15 years of experience helping nonprofit organizations strengthen philanthropic partnerships, build fundraising capacity, and advance ambitious goals. For nearly a decade, she has served as a trusted advisor to organizations across sectors, guiding campaign feasibility and planning studies, providing campaign counsel, and helping nonprofit leaders build the strategies and relationships needed for long-term success.
Abbie brings a thoughtful, collaborative approach to her work, partnering closely with executive leaders, development teams, and boards to understand each organization's unique strengths, challenges, and opportunities. She combines strategic insight with practical, hands-on guidance, helping organizations navigate complex fundraising decisions, strengthen donor engagement, and turn bold visions into actionable plans.
Before becoming a consultant, Abbie held development roles in the nonprofit and higher education sectors, building expertise in annual giving, corporate and foundation relations, grants and sponsored programs, and major gifts. This combination of institutional and consulting experience gives her a valuable perspective on the realities facing development teams and allows her to provide counsel that is both strategic and grounded in day-to-day fundraising operations.
Abbie earned her MBA in Public Administration from Old Dominion University, further bolstering her ability to support nonprofit organizations in achieving their missions. She also holds a BS in Merchandising Management and Business Leadership from Virginia Tech, which gives her a unique perspective on the intersection of business and philanthropy.
A dedicated community advocate, Abbie actively contributes her time and expertise as a member of Nansemond-Suffolk Academy’s Development Advisory Committee and Saints Shop volunteer. Abbie is committed to enhancing local philanthropy and education, having served on the Association of Fundraising Professionals Hampton Roads Chapter Board of Directors as mentoring chair, Fundraising Leadership Symposium chair, and National Philanthropy Day Committee.
